The Alava-born writer Toti Martínez de Lezea returns to bookstores with a new title that moves away from her usual long novels to delve fully into the short story.
In her new book, Voces, the author recovers the essence of short stories, a format that, as she herself acknowledges, she is enthusiastic about, even though it is not the field in which she has been most prolific throughout her career.
Voces brings together fifteen short stories by Toti Martínez de Lezea, published in Spanish and Basque by Erein. The stories span from the 10th century to the future 22nd century, with historical and contemporary plots marked by humor and reflection.
One story dedicated to the author's mother, a pioneer of women's swimming in post-war Spain, and another about the bombing of Durango stand out. The work reflects on themes such as feminism, historical memory, and the impact of technology through a wide variety of voices.
