During the FIL, which this year has Barcelona as its Guest of Honor, on Sunday, November 30, Jaume Collboni, mayor of the Catalan city, announced the creation of an international writing scholarship-residency for Latin American authors, ‘Narrar Barcelona’.
The announcement took place in the FIL press room.
The residency, which according to Collboni will have a budget of €80,000, will allow a Latin American author with an established career in the Americas to live in Barcelona for three months to produce an unpublished work inspired by their experience in the city.
The call for applications will be made public in January and will offer a creative space in which the city itself will become a “narrative laboratory. 'More than just a creative retreat, the residency is conceived as an urban immersion experience where the city becomes a narrative territory, interviewer, and symbolic catalyst'.
