Spanish writer Daniel Morales was announced as the winner of the 2025 Clarín Novel Prize for his book ‘Cuaderno inglés,’ submitted under the pseudonym Garp.
The award includes a cash prize of 10 million pesos and the publication of the work by the Clarín-Alfaguara publishing house.
The competition received 1,284 entries from Spain, Colombia, Ecuador, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela, and Argentina. The Jury of Honor, chaired by renowned figures in contemporary literature—Mariana Enríquez, Alberto Fuguet, and Javier Cercas—highlighted the quality and appeal of the novel. Javier Cercas noted that the work seduces from the first page; Enríquez said they quickly fell in love with the book; Fuguet praised the jury's decision and highlighted the award's visibility.
