Young Adult and New Adult genres also on the rise in audio format.

In their latest report, Fabely, the audiobook label from Bookwire, has published an extensive study on the two genres that dominate not only the best seller’s lists but also those in social media: Young Adult and New Adult.

The report, presented to the public at the Frankfurt 2025 Book Fair, highlights that children and young adult genres are much more than passing trends:  they are the expressions of a young and digital reading culture that experience these stories in an emotional, community-based, and increasingly audiovisual way.

According to John Ruhrmann, cofounder and associate executive director of Bookwire, 'Young Adult (YA) and New Adult (NA) genres are a reflection of our present time.  They address social realities that directly affect young people, and they do so with an emotional candor that is particularly striking in audio format.'
