Juan Pérez-Foncea, in the purest tradition of adventure narratives, presents a reissue of ‘Fuego en el Mississippi’, now published by Almuzara.
This book highlights a little-known but fundamental episode: Spain's decisive intervention in the independence of the United States, a subject about which very little has been written.
Spain's participation in the independence of the United States, as described in this book, proved to be fundamental. This was due to the crucial victory of Bernardo de Gálvez, who was the governor of Louisiana, in the Battle of Pensacola; the economic support provided by the Crown; the important naval confrontation in Chesapeake; and the logistical support provided by the rebels, who facilitated navigation on the great river of Louisiana.
The novel, based on real events, tells the story of Alfonso Salazar, a young man who escapes suffering and loss to transform himself in lively Spanish Louisiana.
