Nominees for the 2026 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award

The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (ALMA) is the highest distinction in children and young adult literature worldwide.

Created by the Swedish government in 2002 following the death of the iconic author, this award honors her memory and her deeply humanistic spirit. With a prize fund of five million Swedish kronor (approximately US$500,000), it is the largest international prize of its kind, awarded annually to a person or organization for their outstanding contribution and artistic excellence.

The selection of the laureate is the responsibility of a Swedish expert jury composed of twelve members with extensive knowledge of international children and young adult literature, children's rights, and the promotion of reading.
