Jorge Luján, SM Ibero-American Prize for Children and Young Adult Literature

The jury for the 21st edition of the SM Ibero-American Prize for Children and Young Adult Literature, which met on September 18, has chosen Argentine writer Jorge Luján

who has lived in Mexico for more than four decades, as the winner of this competition, which, in addition to recognizing the careers of Ibero-American writers for children and young adults, awards $30,000 as part of the prize.

The jury, which was made up of Beatriz María Sanjuán de la Plata (CERLALC), Daniel González Maraver (IBBY Mexico), Jorge Alejandro Von-Düben Padilla (OEI), Rodrigo Morlesin (UNESCO), and Jéssica Rodríguez López (Fundación SM Mexico), unanimously chose him for the poetic power of his work and the deep connection he has built with his readers over a 40-year career.
