Planeta denies reports that the publication of 'Reconciliación' had been suspended after the author, Laurence Debray, announced its release for November 12, the day it will be published in France.
After a flurry of confusing headlines, Planeta confirmed on Friday that King Juan Carlos' memoirs will be published in the first week of December. Entitled ‘Reconciliación,’ the book, written in the first person, promises to be a historic event and will hit bookstores just days after the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Spanish monarchy. Quite a statement of intent.
The announcement by the publisher comes after some confusion. Last summer, the co-author of the 500 plus page book, French-Venezuelan writer Laurence Debray, announced that King Juan Carlos' memoirs would be published on November 12, the date on which they will indeed be released in France. Early on Friday, El Confidencial reported that “disagreements” between Planeta and the author over the launch and promotion of the book would delay the publication of ‘Reconciliación’ in Spain. However, Debray has come forward to deny this and confirm that everything will go ahead as planned.
