The Spanish Federation of Publishers' Guilds has chosen the Jaume Fuster Library in Barcelona as the winner of the 2025 LIBER Award for the best initiative to promote reading in libraries open to the public.
This distinction recognizes its ongoing commitment to promoting reading, as well as its ability to join forces and establish synergies with institutions and educational centers.
Madrid, July 23, 2025—Opened in November 2005, coinciding with the Year of Books and Reading, the Jaume Fuster Library became Barcelona's 29th public library and an urban landmark following the renovation of the Plaza Lesseps area through a participatory neighborhood process. Since its inception, it has stood out for its central role in the Gràcia district and its connection with the rest of the city.
Thanks to its strategic location, long opening hours, modern facilities, extensive book collection, and ongoing cultural programming, the Jaume Fuster Library has established itself as the most visited library in the Barcelona Library Network. It was also the first to incorporate an auditorium with a capacity for 250 people and its own exhibition hall.
