Elisa Fernández Guzmán (Huelva, 25 years old) has been awarded the Miguel Hernández National Young Poetry Prize for her work ‘Después del pop’ (Rialp), granted by the Ministry of Culture and worth €30,000.
The jury chose her work for “conveying truth with the power of an apparent simplicity that seduces, captivates, and moves. ‘Después del pop’ has a magnificent construction of scenes, places, and atmospheres that combines a deep lyrical sensitivity with the ability to honestly name the emotional experience of adolescence, first love, and the passage of time.”
“The author uses the theme of love to talk about the very act of poetic creation, taking risks with a direct style that is not lacking in irony, drama, and celebration. Using everyday language, without falling into banality or renouncing musicality, Elisa Fernández Guzmán reads the world through the lens of love and achieves the poetic expression of tenderness,” the jury said.
