Candela Sierra (Ronda, 35) has won today the 2025 National Comic Award for ‘Lo sabes aunque no te lo he dicho’ (Astiberri), according to an announcement by the Ministry of Culture, which awards the prize, worth €30,000.
The author told EL PAÍS in a telephone conversation that her comic highlights “the human misery of today in a cynical or even concerned way,” but she also acknowledges that not everything is negative and that there is a part of society that 'stands firm and draws attention to, for example, genocide, as we saw yesterday,” referring to the demonstrations that boycotted the final stage of the Vuelta cycling race in Madrid. In the official statement from the Ministry of Culture, the jury notes that the winning work “gives weight to the idea through narrative and graphic resources.'
