Interview with writer Toni Sánchez Bernal

‘Atrapada en la oscuridad’ is the new thriller by Tarragona-based writer Toni Sánchez Bernal, a work that takes place not in the underworld of Madrid but in its most gloomy, dark, and depressing underground.

A grim thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The novel begins with a woman executed in the middle of the street, at the doors of a police station. She is Cristina Hidalgo, who disappeared twenty-seven years ago. From that moment on, the goal of the UDEV Homicide Unit, led by Inspector Tania Bilbao, is to discover where she has been all this time.

The team is joined by Arturo Yani, a police officer tormented by childhood traumas, a ticking time bomb who is being blackmailed by Internal Affairs to investigate Tania, known for her unorthodox methods within the force.

They don't seem like the best people to solve the case, but that's precisely why they're the only ones capable of seeing it through to the end. What neither of them can suspect is that the worst of nightmares lies hidden beneath their feet. In the interview, the Catalan author gives us some clues about it.
