Writer Mariana Ayala Vargas has been awarded the Juan de la Cabada Fine Arts Prize for Children's Stories 2025 for her work ‘Los que nunca mueren.’
The Juan de la Cabada Fine Arts Prize for Children's Stories consists of a diploma and a cash prize of 200,000 Mexican pesos.
The judging panel, made up of Silvia Molina, Mónica Bergna, and Ricardo Chávez Castañeda, decided to award this recognition to the writer, considering that her work stands out for its literary strength, simple language with literary quality, and original narrative that clearly conveys a child's subjectivity.
In the minutes, the jury highlighted that ‘Los que nunca mueren’ is a book of short stories with thematic, structural, and tonal unity, which uses the travel diary format in a fresh and effective way, a form that is uncommon in literature.
