Daniel Divinsky, legendary Argentine publisher of Ediciones de la Flor, home of Mafalda, has passed away.

At the age of 83, and after a long illness, the legendary Argentine publisher Daniel Jorge Divinsky (Buenos Aires, 1942) has passed away.

He was a key figure in Argentine publishing culture, founder of Ediciones de la Flor, which, until a few days ago, was the home of Mafalda.

Divinsky entered university at the age of 15 with the intention of studying literature, but his father convinced him to pursue a career path, so he enrolled in engineering. When he looked at the curriculum, he ended up enrolling in law. At the age of 20, he graduated from the University of Buenos Aires with honors. He practiced law for ten years.

While practicing law, he met Jorge Álvarez, a publisher of law books who also published writers such as Rodolfo Walsh and Pirí Lugones (granddaughter of Leopoldo Lugones), for whom he did some pro bono work. It was Álvarez who later offered him the opportunity to form a publishing house.
