Spain, guest of honor at the Guatemala Book Fair

Between July 1 and 13, Spain will be the guest of honor at the Guatemala Book Fair (FILGUA) where more than 100,000 people are expected to visit.

The cultural program of Spain welcomes the plurality of languages, voices and sensibilities of current Spanish literature, and has a delegation of 20 authors and more than 50 activities.

“Leer para Levantar el vuelo” promotes reading and books as a space for building rights and commitment to youth, innovation and talent in Spain.

Literature allows us to fly to other worlds, discover new perspectives and reflect on ourselves and the world around us. Spain firmly believes in the power of reading to transform lives and societies. For this reason, in its participation as guest country at the International Book Fair (FILGUA), Spain is presenting a program focused on promoting reading and literature among young people.

The program has been organized by the Directorate of Cultural and Scientific Relations of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) through the Cultural Center of Spain in Guatemala, in collaboration with the Directorate General of Books, Comics and Reading of the Ministry of Culture of Spain, with the support of Spanish Cultural Action and the Cervantes Institute. Always in collaboration with the Gremial de Editores de Guatemala, organizers of the fair in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Guatemala and with the support of Penguin Random House.
