The Spanish publishing sector recovers turnover levels prior to the 2008 crisis

The book sales market exceeds 3,000 million euros in turnover, according to a report by the Spanish Federation of Publishers' Guilds.

- It records eleven consecutive years of increased turnover in the domestic market. Since 2014 there has been a rise of 39.2% and 855.54 million euros.

- ‘The continued growth of turnover during this last decade makes our European colleagues talk about the 'Spanish phenomenon’. “These figures are also a reflection of the data we are observing year after year in the Barometer of Reading Habits that show us the growing interest in reading and books,” said Daniel Fernandez, president of the Spanish Federation of Publishers’ Guilds.

- The combined sales of Spanish publishers in the domestic market amounted to 3,037 million euros, a figure that represents a 6.3% increase over 2023. In the last four years, increases have been above 5%.

- The increase in the sector's turnover was mainly due to the increase in the number of copies sold (10.23 million copies and 5.6% more than in 2023). The average price was 14.69 € (0.03 euros and 0.2% more than in 2023)
