The Ministry of Culture of the Government of Mexico and the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) have announced the launch of the Carlos Fuentes International Award for Literary Creation in the Spanish Language 2025,
established the same year of the writer’s death.
The renowned Mexican writer Carlos Fuentes, one of the most prolific writers in the Spanish language during the 20th century, created a vast body of work that included narrative, essays, plays, film scripts and opinion articles, among others. Possessor of a critical view of reality, art and literature, a fundamental actor in the public scene as well as a central member of the literary movement known as the Latin American Boom.
