The month of May continues to reflect in the list the consolidation of the changes of the last few weeks. In fiction, ‘El loco de Dios en el fin del mundo,’
the novel about the former Pontiff by Javier Cercas, regains first place, and ‘Por si un día volvemos,’ the new novel by María Dueñas, which takes us to Oran in the 20th century, continues at the top of the list.
Other highlights include ‘La muy catastrófica visita al zoo,’ the new novel by bestseller Joël Dicker, a novel with a juvenile feel and full of quips about our society, and ‘Ese imbécil va a escribir una novela,’ the hilarious new book by Juan José Millás.
On a more literary level, ‘Oposición,’ Sara Mesa's acid criticism of bureaucracy, ‘El jardinero y la muerte,’ the heartfelt memoir about the death of his father by Bulgarian Booker Prize winner Gueorgui Gospodínov, and the already best-selling ‘La península de las casas vacías’ by David Uclés, are still in the running.
