Sergio Vila-Sanjuán, Fernando Lara Award 2025

The Fernando Lara Novel Prize, organized jointly by Grupo Planeta and the AXA Foundation, is part of a collaboration agreement for cultural promotion in Andalusia.

The award ceremony was held on May 22, at the Real Alcázar in Seville.

The Barcelona writer Sergio Vila-Sanjuán has been awarded the Fernando Lara Novel Prize in its thirtieth edition for the work ‘Misterio en el barrio Gótico,’ presented into the competition under the provisional title ‘En el corazón de la Ciudad Vieja.’ The novel will be published on June 25.

This was the decision of the jury of the Fernando Lara Prize, presided over by Ana María Ruiz-Tagle, Clara Sánchez, Nativel Preciado, Pere Gimferrer and Emili Rosales, who acted as voting secretary. These were the first comments of the award-winning author: "I feel very excited. The world of books is a field to which I have dedicated my whole life. Receiving this award tonight has many connotations for me, and I feel deeply honored".

The Fernando Lara Novel Prize 2025 is endowed with 120,000 euros and this year has broken its record of participation, with a total of 1,116 original novels submitted, from Spain and abroad.
