The Small Publishers Commission of the Madrid Publishers Association has announced the Bibliodiversity Awards 2025, which recognizes institutions, media and personalities that support independent publishing.
This year's winners are Antonio Gárate, director and presenter of La Hora Cultural (RTVE), the Cuesta de Moyano Book Fair Association, Librería Polifemo on its 45th anniversary and the Miguel Hernández Regional Library. Ediciones Morata, which celebrates its centenary this year, receives the Honorary Award.
The Miguel Hernández Public Library, part of the Public Library Network of the Community of Madrid, was inaugurated in 1995 after years of neighborhood organization. The building, designed by architect Luis Arranz, has 233 reading spaces and 25 Internet access points, and is open to the public with longer opening hours, which are extended even further during exam periods. The library also offers its users multimedia stations, as well as an extensive bibliographic and audiovisual collection.
