The Spanish Ministry of Culture, through the Directorate General of Books, Comics and Reading, has launched a new budget for aid for the creation of comics.
The amount of these aids is one million euros, for a total of 40 projects with 25,000 euros each.
The amount of these aids, which will be granted on a competitive basis, responds to the specific characteristics of comic creation, which frequently includes multidisciplinary teams and long production periods. Likewise, 30% of these grants are reserved for projects by female creators or those in which at least 40% of the participants are women, in the case of collective projects. This measure is part of the Spanish Ministry of Culture's strategy to promote policies that contribute to reduce the gender gap, promoting equality in the field of artistic creation.
