On April 10th, 2023, two years ago today, the writer Fernando Sánchez Dragó passed away at his retirement home in Castilfrío de la Sierra, at the age of 86.
But who was Sánchez Dragó really?
Writer, columnist, presenter, talk show host, polemicist, liberal, libertine, lover of Eastern culture, anti-Franco, Vox intellectual, journalist, traveler, cat collector... Fernando Sánchez Dragó was all that and more, an uncomfortable figure for anyone who tried to classify him. He did, however, receive many accolades: the Planeta Prize, the Ondas Prize (for that great talk show 'El mundo por montera'), the National Essay Prize, the Castilla y León Literature Prize, and so on.
