The president of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, will hold a conversation with the writer Javier Cercas on the role of literature, culture and the importance of traditions, as part of a series of dialogues that will take place one day before the Diada de Sant Jordi.
The conversation between Illa and the writer, will address “the importance of having festivals that unite the population,” as announced by the Minister of Culture of the Generalitat, Sònia Hernández, during the presentation of the program for Sant Jordi in Barcelona, held on Thursday at the Palau de la Generalitat.
The dialogues “starring four leading figures of literature, thought and contemporary politics,” will be the opening act of the festival of the book and the rose that will take place on April 23 in the Catalan capital. The program of the festivities also includes the mass of Sant Jordi, recovered for this edition by the Generalitat, the traditional xocolatada, (chocolatada) and four days of activities in Madrid.
