Coinciding with the International Children's and Young Adult Literature Day, ‘El chico que me regaló el mar,’ arrives in bookstores.

This is the latest novel by the author who considers it more difficult to write for young people and children than for adults.

Zaragoza-based writer Ana Alcolea (63) speaks to EL PAÍS on the occasion of International Children's and Young Adult Literature Day, celebrated every April 2nd since 1967, in commemoration of the birth of Danish children's author Hans Christian Andersen.

She speaks from Gandía (Valencia), after spending a few hours with a group of high school students who read one of her novels. She recently published the novel ‘Los secretos que guardan las estrellas’ (Anaya), and this week, ‘El chico que me regaló el mar,’ (Nube de tinta) arrives in bookstores. As part of her ongoing promotional and outreach campaign, she has visited schools in Mallorca, Madrid, and Alicante.
