The Community of Madrid presented on March 28th, the new Strategic Plan for Books and Reading 2025/2028, which will focus on modernizing the bookselling and publishing sector,
with the aim of consolidating the region's cultural leadership. This was stated today by the Regional Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Sport, Mariano de Paco Serrano, at a meeting held at the Joaquín Leguina Regional Library in the capital. He also explained that this initiative will revolve around five pillars: readers, authors, books, publishers, and booksellers.
"Reading has been and continues to be the main vehicle for learning and transmitting knowledge, so we are proud that Madrid is a reading community and committed to making this habit increasingly present in everyday life, while promoting this cultural industry," said De Paco Serrano, who highlighted the regional government's annual investment of more than €19 million in this area.
