Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial (PRHGE) inaugurated its new book distribution center in Cerdanyola del Vallès (Barcelona) today, March 24th.
This center, developed by SEGRO, is the most advanced in Europe and represents an investment of €36 million and occupies a surface area of ??42,000 m².
The mayor of Cerdanyola del Vallès, Carlos Cordón, presided over the event, accompanied by the Regional Minister of Economy and Finance of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Alícia Romero, the Regional Minister of Culture of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Sònia Hernández, and the CEO of Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial, Núria Cabutí. Also present at the event was María José Gálvez, Director General of Books, Comics, and Reading at the Ministry of Culture and Sport.
This new center strengthens Spain's role as a key logistics hub in the European cultural industry. Until now, PRHGE operated from four warehouses (two in Pallejà, one in Sabadell, and one in the Zona Franca), but the centralization in Cerdanyola del Vallès will optimize delivery times, improve operational efficiency, and reduce logistics costs.
