Consider what happened when Jiménez learned that the California Association for Bilingual Education had named her the 2025 Teacher of the Year.
“When (Jiménez) received the call, she put it on speakerphone so her students could hear it, and the room filled with cheers and applause,” said Juan Ortiz, director of English and multilingual learner programs for Pomona schools, in a press release. “She has a deep connection with her students and helps them take risks.”
Jiménez's 30 years at Westmont Elementary School in the Pomona Unified School District have forged that bond.
