This represents a total of 3,364 highly valuable, unique, or very rare pieces. The National Library of Spain,
with the aim of enriching and updating Spain's bibliographic and documentary heritage, acquires new pieces of unique value each year to complement this heritage and ensure its preservation and dissemination.
In addition to the existing funds and collections, there are purchases of old and special documents with the institution's own budget and acquisitions by the Ministry of Culture for the BNE. In 2024, these acquisitions reached a value of €1,411,275.78.
From its budget and in fulfillment of its purposes, the BNE annually purchases all types of documents that contribute to the growth and updating of Spain's heritage. In 2024, the BNE acquired 238 documents, valued at €167,579.51, including unique or very rare works with few known copies.
