GfK Entertainment and NielsenIQ BookData released their 2024 International Book Market Report today at the London Book Fair.
The data reveals an increase in fiction book revenue, while non-fiction book sales have declined in many regions. Romance novels and fantasy titles performed particularly well last year.
Analyzing the 2024 International Book Market Report prepared by GfK Entertainment and NielsenIQ BookData, we can see that 16 of the 18 territories analyzed recorded significant revenue growth in fiction, with India (+30.7%), Mexico (+20.7%), Brazil (+16.4%), Spain (+12.0%), and Portugal (+11.4%) being notable, even recording double-digit increases compared to the previous year.
In contrast, non-fiction books only grew in six regions, and even then at a comparatively low rate. Children's and young adult books also had an uneven year, although they managed to increase their revenue in nine territories.
