Spotify has announced that, starting February 20th, will accept audiobooks from ElevenLabs, an artificial intelligence software company that offers high-quality voice narration technology.
The partnership between the two companies seeks to make it easier for authors to distribute their works in audiobook format on the Swedish platform, seeking to reach “millions of new listeners and book lovers.”
Until now, although Spotify already accepted some AI-generated audiobooks, it only allowed those digitally recorded by specific partners and required prior review before publication. With this partnership, the process will be significantly streamlined, as ElevenLabs is one of the most recognized platforms on the market and will therefore contribute to expanding the offering of audiobooks on the service.
According to Spotify, this new option represents a cost-effective alternative for authors to create high-quality audiobooks, with the possibility of narrating them in up to 29 languages, with complete control over the voice and intonation according to each situation.
