The mayor of Barcelona, Jaime Collboni, has announced the names of the sixteen winners of the Premis Ciutat de Barcelona 2024, which are celebrating their 75th edition.
Among the categories that have been awarded within the world of books, the prizes for Literature in Castilian, Literature in Catalan, and Translation in Catalan have been awarded.
The City of Barcelona Awards are presented every year, during the period of the Santa Eulàlia festivities, in recognition of the work and creations of people and groups that have distinguished themselves for some reason in their field. The awards have been presented since 1949 as a reflection of the cultural and creative life of Barcelona. The nature and typology of the awards have been changing in line with the cultural evolution of the city. The Ciudad de Barcelona awards were born as literary prizes, but later other artistic disciplines such as visual, performing and musical arts, among others, have been incorporated. This year, the categories went from fourteen to sixteen and include the new categories of digital culture and design and fashion.
