The most anticipated books of 2025

James Ellroy, Isabel Allende, Pierre Lemaitre, María Oruña and Ildefonso Falcones are some of the names that will mark the publishing year.

With the lists of the best of 2024 still half-digested, it is time to turn the page and peek into stores and shop windows to see what publishers have in store for the coming year. A bookish 'continuum' without pause or respite that opens with 'La estatua' (Alfaguara), a text dedicated to Uta of Naumburg of whom Günter Grass wrote in 2003 and that has remained unpublished until now.

A Nobel premiere for a year in which two other authors have been recently distinguished by the Swedish Academy: Olga Tokarczuk publishes 'Tierra de empusas' (Anagrama), her first novel since receiving the Nobel in 2018; and Jon Fosse (Random House) reencounters his childhood with 'Escenas de una infancia', short and autobiographical stories written between 1981 and 2013.
