The legacy of José María Merino enters the Caja de las Letras del Cervantes.

The writer and member of the Spanish Royal Academy has deposited 75 letters, handwritten stories and other objects.

Seven books, 75 handwritten letters to his daughter, two handwritten stories and the figurines of the three Wise Men, make up the legacy that the Galician writer, of Leonese descent, and academician of the Royal Spanish Academy, José María Merino, has deposited this Monday in the vault of the Caja de las Letras de Cervantes Institute. For me, it is a great honor that this legacy has invited me to deposit”, declared Merino, National Prize of Spanish Letters 2021, before the director of the Cervantes Institute, Luis García Montero, in an act in which his daughter, also a writer, Ana Merino, his wife and his two grandchildren have also been present.
