Since 1993, the Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz Literature Prize has been awarded to the most outstanding female voices in Hispanic literature.
It is an award that clearly recognizes the fundamental role of women in the literary field, and serves as a reminder that their voices, today more than ever, deserve to be heard, seen and read. This year's winner was Gabriela Cabezón Cámara from Argentina, who received the award in the Juan Rulfo Auditorium of the Guadalajara International Book Fair.
Marisol Schulz Manaut, general director of the FIL, pointed out that this recognition of literature written by women throughout history is a testimony to their contribution and transcendence.
