The writer Álvaro Pombo (Santander, 85 years old) is the new winner of the 2024 Cervantes Prize.
His literary career began in poetry with Protocolos (1973) to write mostly novels, although he has never abandoned the former. His works have been translated into many languages: German, French, Dutch, Greek, English, Italian, Norwegian and Portuguese. In his career as a writer, he has won practically all the important prizes in Spanish. The following is a list of some of his most significant works.
- El héroe de las mansardas de Mansard (Anagrama 1983). Won him his first Herralde Prize in 1983.
