The National Library of Spain, in collaboration with the Spanish Federation of Women Managers, Executives, Professionals

and Entrepreneurs (FEDEPE) and the Classical and Modern Association, have been celebrating Women Writers' Day every year since 20The aim is to defend history.

the work and literary legacy of women, so often relegated to the background throughout .

The first edition was held in 2016, and since then, the date chosen is always the Monday closest to October 15, anniversary of the death of Saint Teresa of Jesus.

The main activity takes place in the auditorium of the BNE and is a continuous reading of between 20 to 25 texts written by women and selected by the curator. The readers are selected between the curator and the three institutions collaborating in the activity.
