Alberto Zurrón (Gijón, December 14, 1968) is a lawyer and writer based in Oviedo. In 1988 he published his first book of poetry entitled 'Aria y fantasía', and since then “Habitar en la onda” (1994), and ..
La tierra también era mentira (1998) have been published, as well as the novels El juez que soñaba con ballenas (2009), La soledad de las cajas muertas (2012) and El paraíso del que te hablé (2018). He has also tackled the essay genre with El mito de la fealdad (2005) and Historia insólita de la música clásica in two volumes (2015 and 2016), dedicated to his passion for classical music and its history.
He has been awarded several national poetry prizes, including the III Premio Villa de Cox (Alicante), in 1993; the Premio de Poesía Ciudad de Tomelloso, in 1998; and the Premio de Poesía Latin Foundation Heritage, in 2010. Between 1998 and 2001 he was a columnist and literary critic for the newspaper El Comercio de Gijón. In addition, in 1995 he founded and directed for years the Spanish Rilke Society, dedicated to the publication and diffusion of the life and work of the Czech poet.
