The jury of the twentieth edition of the SM Ibero-American Prize for Children and Young Adult Literature, which met on September 5, has chosen Colombian writer Irene Vasco as the winner of this contest
which, in addition to recognizing the career of Ibero-American writers for children and young adults, awards 30,000 dollars as part of the prize.
The jury, which was made up of Alejandro von Düben of the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI); Evelyn Arizpe, of the Regional Center for Book Promotion in Latin America and the Caribbean (CERLALC); Mariana Morales, on behalf of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY Mexico); Rodrigo Morlesin, representing the Office in Mexico of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and Sergio Tanhnuz, from the SM Foundation, unanimously chose her for a literary work of quality that, for more than 40 years, has connected with readers of all ages and transmitted their love for books.
