Review of 'Ensayo sobre la ceguera' by José Saramago

'Blindness'or 'Ensayo sobre a ceguera' by its original title in Portuguese— is an essayistic novel written by Nobel Prize winner for Literature José Saramago. The work was first published in 1995.

A little later, it was translated into Spanish by Basilio Losada and marketed by the publishing house Santillana for the Spanish-speaking public.

Its own author defined it as "the novel that captured, criticized and unmasked a rotten and unhinged society." At the same time, critics and the reading public have endorsed these words, granting the work such success that it even made a film adaptation directed by Fernando Meirelles, who called it Blindness.
