who, through the Machado Libros Publishing House, Antonio Machado Bookstore and Machado Distribución, has dedicated his life to books and their dissemination in all the subsectors that it groups together. This distinction will be presented to him on October 2nd within the framework of the activities of the International Book Fair, Liber 2024.

Miguel García Sánchez (Aldeadávila de la Ribera, Salamanca, 1942) began in the world of books in 1959, when he took over a small bookstore specializing in cinema that his older brother bought. Over time, he expanded his topics to other subjects and incorporated books imported from America. Based on this experience, he began to distribute copies to other bookstores. In 1965, this small bookstore-distributor took a decisive step by beginning to distribute emerging Spanish publishers such as Lumen, Kairós and Fundamentos, among others. At that time, his brother, Jesús (Chus), joined the company. Four years later, in 1969, together with his great friends Alberto Corazón and Valeriano Bozal, he created the publishing house Comunicación.
