Spain presents its program as Guest of Honor of the Guadalajara Book Fair 2024.

Spain will be the Guest of Honor at the 38th edition of the Guadalajara International Book Fair, to be held from November 30 to December 8, 2024.

Under the slogan “Camino de ida y vuelta,” (Round trip journey) Spain's presence at FIL Guadalajara, led by the Ministry of Culture through the Directorate General of Books, Comics and Reading and Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), aims to show the image of a plural, diverse and multicultural country, a privileged communication link between Europe and Latin America and a bridge stretching across the Atlantic Ocean.

Spain has been a focus of attraction for Latin American writers since the 19th century, and Mexico has been a place of generous welcome for the great Spanish diaspora after the civil war, as well as a gateway for Spanish distribution in Latin America. It is, therefore, a State project.

The last time Spain participated as guest of honor was in 2000 with the slogan “El camino a la cultura (The Road to Culture). Since then, several autonomous communities have also been present: Catalonia (2004), Andalusia (2006), Castile and Leon (2010) and Madrid (2017).
