What is not mentioned does not exist, and this has been the case for centuries with many women who wrote in different genres -dramatists, essayists, storytellers, journalists,..
poets and translators-, and whose works have nevertheless been left out of the lists.
The National Library of Spain (BNE) wanted to rescue the figure of Beatriz Cienfuegos, head of La Pensadora Gaditana, whom they consider "the first Spanish woman journalist". She is by date as well right.
As a reaction to the weekly El Pensador, by José Clavijo y Fajardo, the first periodical written in Spain by a woman appeared in 1763: La Pensadora Gaditana. In the enlightened context of the 18th century, the young Cadiz girl Beatriz Cienfuegos decided to publish her ideas in the form of “Pensamientos,” representing a new ideal woman who "thinks with reflection, admonishes with maturity and criticizes with humor".
