The Romanian poet and essayist has been awarded the prestigious award that recognizes her prolific work.
The Princess of Asturias Award for Literature 2024 has gone to Ana Blandiana, a prominent Romanian poet, essayist, and political dissident. Born on March 25th, 1942 in Timisoara, under the name Otilia Valeria Coman, she adopted the pseudonym Ana Blandiana at the beginning of her literary career.
She is known both for her literary work and for her active participation in the political and cultural life of Romania. Blandiana succeeds Haruki Murakami as the winner of this award.
