Andrés Mauricio Muñoz, author of 'Los Desagradables': "I never conceive my projects thinking about the genre. I think of stories, of characters".

In his latest novel, published by Seix Barral, this Colombian author continues to portray the archetype of the average man, the one who is neither secure, nor confident, nor tough.

Andrés Mauricio Muñoz was born in Popayán 49 years ago. He has won important literary awards, including the National Short Story Prize UIS, in 2010; he was a finalist in the V edition of the Gabriel García Márquez Hispano-American Short Story Prize with his book “Hay días en que estamos idos” (Seix Barral, 2017); and his novel “El último donjuán” (Seix Barral, 2016) was selected by the Colombian Narrative Library Award as one of the three best books of 2017. He is also the author of the books “Las Margaritas. Historia de un hombre minúsculo” (Seix Barral, 2019), “Un lugar para que rece Adela” (UdeA, 2015) and “Desasosiegos menores” (UIS, 2010).
