'We could publish more, but with one book a year we are doing well,', says Emili Samper, who co-directs the collection Patrimoni Literari de Publicacions de la Universitat Rovira i Virgili together with Magí Sunyer.
Each book, before its release, requires a couple of conscientious scientific and linguistic revisions, which is essential to putting out the best product. The absence of haste explains why the result is excellence.
The process, Sunyer points out, differs from that of other publishers. To maintain high standards, strict rules are applied, including double revision of the text, a measure that delays the publication of each book by several months. This is because Rovira i Virgili prioritizes the literary value of the edition over economic interest. "We would like it to be a business. Thirty years ago, essay books could sell well. Today it is different," explains the co-director.
