Every year, the Bologna Children's Book Fair honors half a dozen publishers with the BOP - Bologna Award for the Best Children's Publishers of the Year.
The award, created in collaboration with the Italian Publishers Association (IEA) and the International Publishers Association (IPA), recognizes the best publishers from six regions of the world: Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, Central America, South America and the Caribbean, and Oceania. The 2024 winners were announced on Monday, April 8, at a ceremony in the Sala Maggiore, with Colombian publisher Cataplum Libros and Barcelona's Mosquito Books winning.
“To create good books, Cataplum digs into the collective memory and explores the roots that unite Latin Americans; recovers the oral tradition, the game and its diverse and inexhaustible possibilities; searches for texts by authors of yesterday and today; tracks illustrators with new proposals and strives to see how text and image can coexist harmoniously.”
