The book “España” published by Espasa and written by Michael Reid

The correspondent of 'The Economist' describes the political, social, and economic scene with an intelligent and neutral observation, combined with the intellectual passion of a traveler in love with his pilgrimage.

Antonio Muñoz Molina says it is the best and most complete book he has read about Spain today, and about the historical roots of the present.

The original edition in English came out a year ago.  The author warns that in the Spanish version he has taken the opportunity to comment briefly on the last general elections of this past July and their consequences, which still linger. The translation is impeccable, except for the fact that the title of the book has been changed, which is longer and more explicit than in the English version: “España: Desafíos y éxitos de un moderno país europeo,” which more accurately defines the content of the work.
