The sports journalist from Vigo, Luis García Rey, wins the Primavera Novel Prize 2024.

The Vigo journalist Luis García-Rey has won the Primavera Novel Prize 2024, worth 100,000 euros, with his novel “Loor.”

The jury commented: “Loor is a contemporary thriller set in Madrid, splendidly plotted, with an atypical pair of protagonists involved in a plot that highlights very current controversial issues".

The Galician author said in a tweet that he feels "such a mix of emotion, surprise, pride and happiness for winning this award that I am warning those around me that I will be unbearable for a few days, maybe weeks. I can only say THANK YOU".

Once again, a well-endowed literary award has gone to a local author. Luis García-Rey, had already made his literary debut with another thriller, “Axel,” set in the world of sports radio that was published last year by Espasa, who grants, along with the Ámbito Cultural of El Corte Inglés, the Primavera Novel Prize.
