The Argentine poet María Negroni (Rosario, 1951) won, with her book “Utilidad de las Estrellas,” the VII Margarita Hierro International Poetry Prize / Fundación Centro de Poesía José Hierro, as announced on Monday, November 27.
'Getafe and its José Hierro Poetry Center Foundation are once again an international benchmark in the field of poetry, showing the world the value of being a critical, open, modern and committed society, with culture as its flag,' said Sara Hernández, mayor of Getafe, when announcing the award decision, in which this year more than eight hundred manuscripts from all over the world were submitted.
The jury for this edition, which met on Friday the 24th and made its decision by majority, was made up of the editor Manuel Borrás, editorial director of Pre-Textos; the poets Jordi Doce, Érika Martínez, Ada Salas and Julieta Valero, director of the José Hierro Poetry Center Foundation and poet, and Mayka García as secretary.
