Queen Letizia attends the book signing by Sonsoles Ónega (winner of the 72nd edition of the Planeta Prize).

After waiting in line for more than 40 minutes, the monarch approached the journalist, with whom she shared a hug.

Queen Letizia went to a central Madrid department store this Saturday to have her friend Sonsoles Ónega sign a copy of her book 'Las hijas de la criada,' with which the journalist won the 2023 Planeta Prize. After waiting in line for More than 40 minutes, the Queen approached Ónega, with whom she embraced. Doña Letizia arrived shortly after 7:00 p.m. and while she was waiting, she took photos with the people who asked her and she also greeted Alfonso Goizueta, a Planeta finalist for his work, 'La sangre del padre.'

Ónega's novel (which was submitted to the contest under the pseudonym Gabriela Monte) tells the story, during much of the 20th century, in Galicia and Cuba, of the Valdés family, who are Galician canning businessmen, with special emphasis on the struggles of the women of the clan, who were decisive in the creation of their commercial empire.
